First visit to Otmoor

I'd met a chap at Brandon Marsh, who heartily recommended Otmoor as a great birding destination and so I thought I'd see for myself - he wasn't wrong !

What a great day !

Lets keep this first blog brief just feature a few shots from my visit to illustrate the great sights on show at Otmoor.

Stars of the day were undoubtedly the Hobby's who preformed acrobatically overhead of the viewing screen.

Surprise appearance were a pair of Snow Geese (presumed escapees), flying with Greylags - beautiful and pristine white in the sunshine.

We were also treated to some views of two Kingfishers which stayed mostly some way away, with one more confident character perching for a few seconds directly in front of the screen

I was also delighted to catch a glimpse of a Redstart on the walk to the viewing screens and just managed to grab a couple of record shots before he disappeared over the hedgerow.

Thanks to Derek (Del Boy) for the recommendation - met some lovely people at Otmoor and great birding - I'll be back for sure !
